Just finished Outlander. OMG much squee! Must refrain from starting Dragonfly in Amber right away, as it's 3:30. And, I want to work up a review of Outlander before I read the next book and get confused. I <3 Jaimie! And I <3 Claire! And I hope that bastard Jonathan Randall is rotting in the worst (literary) hell imaginable. And I'm none too fond of Dougal, either. ...shall post an update when I have sufficient wits to post a decent review on my book blog. And dammit, now I need an Outlander icon! Anyone have anything remotely resembling Jaimie? OH! Or one of Claire I can manip and put "heroine addict" onto? (...must search google images...) Tags: books, outlander How I Feel: tired. Happy. Squee!

I finished reading the book last night, and saw the movie today. It's not nearly as bad as the critics are saying it is. It's not great, but it's not horrible, either. It's a very intellectual movie, and it helps to have (1) read the book and (2) know the real facts (such as the Gnostic heresy, the facts about Rosslyn Chapel, the Knights Templar, the dual nature of Christ, and Opus Dei). It's a good work of fiction, but really, it is fiction. Tags: books, movies

'Twas brillig, and the slithy toves Did gyre and gimble in the wabe; All mimsy were the borogoves, And the mome raths outgrabe.
'Beware the Jabberwock, my son! The jaws that bite, the claws that catch! Beware the Jubjub bird, and shun The frumious Bandersnatch!'
He took his vorpal sword in hand: Long time the manxome foe he sought-- So rested he by the Tumtum tree, And stood awhile in thought.
And as in uffish thought he stood, The Jabberwock, with eyes of flame, Came whiffling through the tulgey wood, And burbled as it came!
One, two! One, two! And through and through The vorpal blade went snicker-snack! He left it dead, and with its head He went galumphing back.
'And hast thou slain the Jabberwock? Come to my arms, my beamish boy! O frabjous day! Callooh! Callay!' He chortled in his joy.
'Twas brillig, and the slithy toves Did gyre and gimble in the wabe; All mimsy were the borogoves, And the mome raths outgrabe.
